We spontaneously decided to hop over to Belgium for the day, because why not? It’s just a quick two-hour train ride from where we’re staying in the UK!
Our main destination was Bruges, and it was absolutely stunning. The cleanliness and meticulous upkeep of the city were remarkable; every building was immaculate and intricately designed.
However, the perfection of it all felt almost surreal, like being in a meticulously curated theme park where nothing quite feels authentic.
Of course, we couldn’t resist indulging in some Belgian delights: beer, pretzels, waffles, and frites!
Afterwards, we made a brief stop in Brussels to admire the magnificent Grand-Place. Standing in the centre of the square, surrounded by towering, ornate buildings adorned in gold detail, was truly awe-inspiring.
We then took a short stroll to see the famous Manneken Pis, having seen replicas of the statue in various shops throughout the day. Now we understand the fascination!
It was truly an unforgettable day, filled with exploration and adventure.
