Day 8 delivered another unforgettable Cornwall road trip, this time to the beautiful fishing village of Padstow — and it has officially claimed the title of our favourite. From the moment we arrived, it was easy to see why so many people fall in love with this place. Boutique shops, endless bakeries and pasty stops, bottle shops filled with locally distilled gin, countless fish and chip spots, and cosy pubs all weave their way through charming laneways just metres from the waterfront. Padstow has that rare kind of atmosphere that instantly makes you want to slow down, wander, and stay a little longer.

We also discovered that Padstow is the hometown of celebrity chef Rick Stein, which meant there was only one logical choice for lunch — Rick Stein’s fish and chips. And wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype. Fresh from a town shaped by its fishing heritage, served just moments from the trawlers, and backed by Rick’s renowned recipes, it was the kind of meal you keep talking about long after you leave. Even more impressive, three out of the four of us don’t normally eat seafood, yet every one of us loved it. That says it all.

Our final day in Cornwall was an absolute knockout — the perfect way to wrap up this chapter of the adventure. Tomorrow, we hit the road again and set our sights on somewhere new.
