Day 3 was a bus excursion to Richmond — and, as always, the bus trip was an adventure in itself.

Richmond is so pretty. Think boutique-lined alleyways, festoon-lit lane ways, and riverside parks that make you slow down without even realising it. We spent the morning window shopping our way through the town, then wandered along the Thames watching ducks and swans cruise past while joggers and dog-walkers went about their day like it was a postcard come to life.

After a lap through the local markets, we settled in for lunch at The White Cross — a gorgeous pub right on the banks of the Thames. We all went in on the sharing pies (ox cheek, bone marrow & Guinness… and chicken & leek) and… oh my goodness — they were phenomenal. Proper “everyone goes quiet for a minute” good.

Post-pie, we waddled back through town to the train and hopped off one stop later at Kew Gardens to check out Tap on the Line — a pub literally on the station platform, because London continues to deliver on the “why not?” moments.

Back to Hammersmith for a small dinner (still very much riding the lunch high), then bed around 8pm — which is becoming almost respectable.

The Day 3 tally:

  • 15,000 steps
  • 10 km
  • 5 pubs
