A spontaneous road trip to Symonds Yat turned into the perfect Sunday adventure, complete with beautiful scenery, a surprise table at the Saracens Head Inn, and an unforgettable Sunday roast before a cosy evening by the fire in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Day 11 turned into one of those beautiful road trip days where you have no real plan, no real expectations, and somehow it all comes together perfectly.
We jumped in the car, typed Symonds Yat near Ross-on-Wye into the GPS, and set off on an adventure into the unknown. After a few questionable directions and a little trial and error, we eventually found our way and were rewarded with a lovely morning tea in a stunning riverside setting. It was one of those places that instantly makes you slow down and soak it all in.
From there, we set our sights on the Saracens Head Inn, which we had spotted from across the river earlier in the day. By some miracle, we managed to score a table without a booking — no easy feat on a Sunday lunchtime — and settled in for an absolutely spectacular Sunday roast. The kind of meal so good it leaves you both impressed and completely defeated.
After rolling ourselves back to the car in a state of delicious discomfort, we made our way home to Bourton-on-the-Water, lit the fire, and settled in for a cosy evening. A relaxed day, a great drive, beautiful scenery, and one seriously memorable pub lunch — the perfect combination.
