We rolled into London just before 6:00am after roughly 26 hours of travel… and Heathrow greeted us with the kind of welcome that keeps you humble: the trains weren’t running. Straight to Uber it was.
We dropped our bags at the hotel and immediately hot-footed it across the road to our all-time favourite breakfast spot, Leon’s — the place we regularly claim “nothing else compares”. Only… it’s gone. Closed. Absolute heartbreak.
Plan B delivered, though: a bloody fantastic breakfast at Spoons.
Determined to stay upright (and awake), we wandered Piccadilly and Soho, and — victory at last — We finally found the famous goldfish in Chinatown that we’ve been hunting for three years.
Four pubs later (including our favourite, The Dev), 10 km on the legs and about 14,000 steps in the bank, we staggered back to the hotel for a quick shower, a low-key dinner in the bar… and lights out by 6:00pm.
