This is the Abbey Medieval Festival, held in Abbeystowe, Caboolture, Moreton Bay Region from Saturday, 8 July to Sunday, 9 July.

As you walk through the gates, you will be taken back to the Middle Ages on a thrilling adventure that includes the sound of clanging swords and clashing armour filling the air as knights battle it out for supremacy.

Further, chivalry and honour will be on the line as knights lower their lances while on horseback and fearlessly charge at their opponent. The sound of horses’ hooves thundering towards each other, the clash of metal, and the roar of the crowd creates an exhilarating atmosphere.

You’ll be able to experience firsthand what life was like during this tumultuous period in history. Wander through the bustling marketplace, where vendors hawk their wares and craftsmen demonstrate their skills. Feast on hearty medieval fare, such as roasted meats, stews, and bread baked in wood-fired ovens.

As the day wears on, the atmosphere becomes more captivating, with live performances by musicians, jugglers, and fire eaters. You might even catch a glimpse of a daring acrobat, scaling a towering stack of barrels.

The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the grand finale, a re-enactment of a medieval battle complete with cannons, archers, and cavalry charges. As the dust settles and the smoke clears, you’ll emerge from the festival with a newfound appreciation for the bravery and resilience of those who lived in the Middle Ages.
