Day 10 was one we had been counting down to for a long time.
As massive fans of Clarkson’s Farm, a visit to The Farmer’s Dog was firmly on our must-do list. We knew the pub itself would be closed, but with The Farmer’s Pup and Diddly Squat Farm Shop open, we were still determined to make the trip. After seeing just how busy it can get, we honestly didn’t expect to get anywhere near the place — so we decided our best chance was to arrive right on opening time. It turned out to be a brilliant move. Not only did we beat the crowds, but we also scored the most amazing breakfast rolls and got to enjoy the experience with just a handful of fellow early risers.
From there, we headed into Oxford and spent the day wandering its beautiful laneways, soaking up the atmosphere and admiring the incredible old architecture. In Oxford, it feels like every building has a story, and every corner is postcard-worthy. We kept up tradition with a quick pint at The Bear, then elevated the day even further with a sneaky gin on the rooftop terrace at The Store Oxford — complete with sweeping views and a world-winning gin to match.
On the drive home, we decided to test our luck one more time and see whether we could get into The Farmer’s Dog for a drink. Somehow, the stars aligned again. We managed to score a table on the terrace, where we happily tucked into cider and sausage rolls while soaking up the atmosphere we had hoped to experience all along.
To round out an already fantastic day, we finished with a beautiful Italian dinner back in Bourton-on-the-Water.
