A small but buzzing (with the best bakery ever) and welcoming town has put on the 23rd Annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, with record crowds in attendance.
Goomeri is a town in the Gympie Region, Queensland, Australia. The town is located on the intersection of the Burnett, Bunya and Wide Bay Highways, 235 kilometres from the state capital, Brisbane.
And people travel far-and-wide to attend a festival centred around all things pumpkins.
According to the official festival website: “The 23-year-old Goomeri Pumpkin Festival began as a way to improve this small town’s morale during a prolonged drought (some things haven’t changed).
“Though pumpkins are no longer grown commercially in the region, the tradition of the pumpkin festival continues. State, national and international recognition has been given to the festival, including Hall of Fame status at the Queensland Tourism Award for winning so many times.”
The jammed packed program included displays, food, drinks, music and THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN PUMPKIN ROLL!
Did I mention bakery? Do the road-trip, check it out.
