Port Isaac is a picturesque fishing village located on the north coast of Cornwall, in the southwest of England. It is a popular tourist destination known for its narrow winding streets, traditional whitewashed cottages, and stunning coastal scenery. The village has been featured in several TV shows and movies, including the popular British TV series, Doc Martin.
Doc Martin is a British television series that first aired in 2004 and has since become a worldwide hit. It follows the story of Dr. Martin Ellingham, a London-based surgeon who relocates to the fictional village of Portwenn in Cornwall to become a general practitioner. The show’s humour is centred around the culture clash between the city-bred Martin and the locals in the rural community. Many of the show’s exterior shots were filmed in Port Isaac, and the village is often referred to as “Portwenn” in the show.
Cornish pasties are a popular food item in the region and are often associated with Cornwall. They are a type of savory pastry that is typically filled with beef, potatoes, onions, and swede (a root vegetable also known as rutabaga), and seasoned with salt and pepper. The ingredients are encased in a shortcrust pastry, crimped along the edge, and baked until golden brown.
